Visit Our Nature Preserves!

You’re invited to visit the Conservancy’s nature preserves.  Quiet recreational uses are welcomed - hiking, bird-watching, cross-country skiing, and nature study.  Check the events calendar for upcoming hikes, stewardship workdays, and more.

  • Beckwith ConservancyBeckwith Conservancy – 30 acres of mature pine and spruce forest, and over 800 feet of frontage on Portage Creek. To visit: Beckwith is located in Stockbridge at the end of Maple Street. Park along the north side of M-106 just east of Maple Street, at the east end of the woods.                                Preserve Map | Map & Directions
  • Creekshead Nature PreserveCreekshead Nature Preserve – 27 acres of beautiful mature beech-maple-basswood forest and spectacular Spring wildflower blooms. To visit: Creekshead is northeast of Ann Arbor on Curtis Road between Brookville and Five Mile Roads. Park along the road and please watch for traffic. Preserve Map | Map & Directions
  • Johnson PreserveNew! Lloyd & Mabel Johnson Preserve – 51 acres of oak forest and a buttonbush swamp, connecting to the southern end of Lillie Park.  To visit:  The Lloyd & Mabel Johnson Preserve is located on Platt Road in Pittsfield Township, south of Ellsworth, immediately south of the Lillie Woods section of Lillie Park.   • Sharon Hills PreserveSharon Hills Preserve – 67 acres of oak-hickory forest, kettle wetlands, and remnant oak savanna, with impressive views of the surrounding area. To visit: Sharon Hills is south of Chelsea, on Sharon Hollow Road between Walker and Washburn Roads. From I-94, exit onto M-52 and go south to Grass Lake Road, go west to Sharon Hollow Road, and go south two miles. Look for the signs on the east side of the road and park in the grassy parking area.   • Woodland PreserveWoodland Preserve – 13 acres of open fields, woodlands, and creek frontage.  To visit: Woodland Preserve is located northwest of Ann Arbor, along Joy Road just west of Jennings Road.  Park in front of the open field on the south side of Joy Road. Please note: removal of plant material, hunting, and overnight use are not permitted at the Conservancy’s nature preserves.  Thank you for helping us care for these natural areas!
